Why You’re Seeing Duplicate Assignments and How to Fix It

Seeing the same assignment twice can be confusing. Here are the most common causes and solutions.

Possible causes

  • You accidentally entered the same assignment twice.

  • An import or integration created duplicates.

  • A sync bug caused an assignment to be submitted multiple times.

How to clean up duplicates

  1. Identify duplicates:

    • Look for identical titles, due dates, and classes.

  2. Open each duplicate and compare details.

  3. Delete the extra copies:

    • Keep the one that has the most accurate notes or tags.

    • Delete the others using the trash/delete button.

If you have a lot of duplicates from an import:

  • It may be faster to delete them in bulk (if supported) or

  • Clear your data and re-import once carefully.

Preventing future duplicates

  • Avoid importing the same file more than once.

  • If using sync with another system, check if that system already sent assignments before manually creating them.
